Exosome Manufacturing in 2026: The New Table Stakes
Exosome manufacturing has a new baseline. Three capabilities are now table stakes — and a supplier missing any one of them should be disqualified.
Shift one: closed tangential-flow lines. Open culture-flask handling with centrifuge purification is giving way to fully enclosed TFF lines with dedicated cassettes. The numbers that matter: recovery above 95%, low-adsorption membrane paths, and operation time down 80% versus manual processing. If a supplier cannot state a recovery figure with a method behind it, the line is probably open.
Shift two: AI seed screening. Seed libraries scored 0–100 for potential, with elite-tier admission, make batch consistency an upstream property rather than a downstream apology. When 90%+ of candidates are screened out before production, the surviving material inherits documentation from day one.
Shift three: lyophilized formats. Freeze-dried powders with designed cryoprotection and reconstitution protocols are replacing cold-chain-only logistics — shipping stability becomes a specification, not a hope.
The buyer's takeaway: ask for the recovery figure with its method, the seed-scoring criteria, and the lyophilization protocol. A manufacturer who answers all three with documents attached is the new baseline.
