Flexible Micro-Batch Scheduling: 500-Unit Launches on the Production Line

Big-batch CDMO economics don't fit a 500-unit launch. This playbook shows how the 0.5–5 L closed line schedules many small programs without sacrificing records..5–5 L scheduling with fast changeovers is the manufacturing answer.

Flexible Micro-Batch Scheduling — Process Playbook — program shot

01 · The problem

Emerging exosome brands ask a manufacturing question big-batch CDMOs cannot answer profitably: can I launch at 500 units, restock monthly, and change formats without redoing validation? Large-batch economics amortize over volume the brand doesn't have yet; the MOQ wall stops launches before they start. The 0.5–5 L line was built for exactly this question.

02 · Scientific rationale

The 0.5–5 L closed line's design variables are changeover speed and traceability: format changeovers (vial, tablet, mist) re-qualify within hours under the documented changeover SOP, every batch keeps full records, and utilization stays high across many small programs. Pilot-to-production runs on the same line: the pilot batch is the first production batch.

03 · Program documentation

Scheduling logic and changeover procedures are documented in TONGNIAN's internal process files [6].

05 · Process & QC

Programs are scheduled per cadence with fixed process parameters per format family; retain samples and batch records accompany every run. QC per the standard panel [2][5].

06 · Regulatory pathway: EU & US first

Scheduling is market-neutral; each program family carries its destination-market route (cosmetic, supplement, professional).

07 · Expected outcomes

  • Pilot-volume launch: 500-unit pilots run on the same line, under the same records, as production.
  • Channel-paced restock: monthly or quarterly replenishment matched to your sell-through.
  • Traceability at every cadence: small batches ship with the same batch records and retain samples as large runs.

No claims beyond the destination-market framing — authority comes from documentation and batch measurement.

08 · Commercial framework

Sample kits in 3-5 days; pilot from 500 units; production from 2,000 units; standard lead 15 workdays - all indicative, quoted per request. White-label and program naming run through the OBM program.
