Breakout-Companion Soothing Line: The Cosmetic-Clean Companion Layer for Actives Routines
Actives own the breakout shelf, and the soothing layer beside them is thin — where it exists at all, the claim line is usually wrong. This playbook covers the science, the line architecture, the QC panel and the claims route.
01 · The problem
Breakout care is an actives war — effective and harsh. What the routine lacks is the companion layer: products that soothe the visible stress those actives cause. Most brands miss twice: they underdeliver (a plain moisturizer) or overclaim (treatment language that reads as a drug on paper). The companion slot sells — and it is exactly where the claim risk sits.
02 · Scientific rationale
The formulation logic is soothing support for skin undergoing active treatment: characterized EV material with calming-signal literature, in low-sting bases, fragrance-minimal. The claims are the real spec here: companion positioning (used alongside prescribed routines), appearance-level wording only (visibly soothed, calmer-looking), and no treatment language. That combination keeps the line cosmetic in both the EU and the US.
03 · Program documentation
Protocol documentation for this program family is maintained in TONGNIAN's internal files — network-clinic protocol series and anonymized case records where applicable [5]. Partner access under NDA; the evidence hierarchy stays explicit — published reviews first, internal observational programs second, case documentation third. [6]
Method anchors: [1] EV biology and cargo [2] MISEV2018 characterization [3] category evidence (review or registered study) [4] formulation and handling guidance [5] national measurement guideline (2026 No. 17) [6] internal protocol and case documentation.
04 · Product architecture
| Product | Format (sample) | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Soothing essence | 30 mL | Daily companion step |
| Repair spray | 100 mL | On-the-go re-application |
| Spot-companion gel | 15 g (via DermFix™) | Point care in clinic channels |
05 · Process & QC
EV material runs on the fully enclosed 0.5–5 L micro-batch line — closed-tubing culture, scheduled harvest, tangential-flow separation and concentration, sterile filtration — with low-shear handling qualified at process validation [4]. QC panel design follows MISEV2018 [2] and the national measurement guideline (2026 No. 17, TONGNIAN a drafting organization) [3].
| Test item | Method | Release criterion (indicative) |
|---|---|---|
| Particle-size distribution | NTA + TEM cross-check | 80–150 nm (sample) |
| Particle concentration | NTA | Per batch COA |
| Endotoxin | Kinetic chromogenic (LAL) | Per batch COA |
| Microbial limits | Membrane filtration | Negative |
| Batch release | COA + batch records | Every batch |

06 · Regulatory pathway: EU & US first
EU cosmetic track (CPNP, CPSR) and US MoCRA. On-pack copy avoids condition naming entirely — shelf communication says breakout-prone skin routines. Material chain: DMF Type II 044197, INCI 41316. China market entry later on the same basis.
07 · Expected outcomes
- A companion shelf position that actives brands want next to their products.
- Compliance-clean by design: companion positioning and appearance-level wording keep the line on the cosmetic track in the EU and the US.
- Line economics: three SKUs (essence, spray, point care) cover the full routine, and each stays inside the cosmetic claim line.
No claims are made beyond the cosmetic, supplement, or professional-use framing of the destination market — authority comes from documentation and batch measurement.
08 · Commercial framework
Sample kits in 3–5 days; pilot from 500 units; production from 2,000 units; standard lead 15 workdays — all indicative, quoted per request. White-label and program naming run through the OBM program.
